Required Qualifications

  • Earned Doctorate degree from an accredited institution preferred, Masters degree required .
  • Recent successful senior level community college leadership experience or equivalent required.

Desired Characteristics:

  • An ethical leader with great integrity who sets high standards and ensures balanced support for programs and services across the College.
  • A leader committed to academic excellence, student access, and student success who possesses the ability to inspire and motivate faculty and staff.
  • A demonstrated record of visionary, collaborative, decisive and effective leadership with the ability to address issues and resolve problems in a timely and fair manner.
  • Demonstrated passion for the community college mission and programs with an ability to build consensus and work with various and diverse stakeholders both inside and outside the college, possessing the skills and abilities to lead in a union environment.
  • An understanding of the proper delegation of authority and a commitment to empowering others and using the talents and skills of the faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders in the decision-making process. .
  • A commitment to and demonstrated success in issues of diversity and in the ability to lead a college that values diversity.
  • An innovative and creative leader open to new ideas and risk taking with an understanding of the importance of technology as it relates to institutional effectiveness.
  • Ability to form partnerships with business/industry, educational, and other community agencies including international partnerships.
  • An active listener and outstanding communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to all elements of the college and the community.
  • A leader who has the ability to be an articulate spokesperson for the College, locally, statewide, and nationally; and who is politically astute with proven advocacy skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively oversee the management of the College’s fiscal affairs, ensure the equitable and effective allocation of resources, and expand the resource base of the College through alternative funding sources.
  • An understanding and appreciation of the proper relationship between the Board of Trustees and the President.
